African champions Nigeria are set to compete in the 2018 Turkish Women’s Cup set for 26 February to 7 March in Alanya, Turkey.
The nations that have confirmed participation in the friendly tournament include Nigeria, Mexico, Ukraine, Poland and Romania.
France, who Nigeria are to meet in an international friendly in April, have also thrown their hat in the ring.
But Les Bleues will be sending their Team B, as their first team will be in the U.S. defending the SheBelieves Cup title.
The tournament will be Nigeria’s second in 2018 after the ongoing inagurual WAFU Women’s Cup.
It will also be Nigeria’s first series of matches outside Africa since the 2015 Women’s World Cup.
The tournament is one of a series of international friendly tournaments set for the forthcoming jam-packed international break.
The international break, scheduled for 27 February to 8 March, is the second in 2018 after the eventful January break.
Nigeria join South Africa, who will compete in Cyprus Cup, as the two African nations expected to participate in one of the international tournaments.
The two will be using the tournaments to continue preparations for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON 2018) qualifiers.
Both have been given a first round bye in the qualifiers, hence will enter the fray in the second round in June.
AWCON 2018 will double as CAF qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup with the top three finishers securing tickets to France 2019.
